A Thanksgiving Day Letter of Gratitude to God and America

On this Thanksgiving Day, I pause with a full heart to reflect on the blessings that God has provided and the extraordinary gift of living in a nation as abundant and free as the United States of America. At a time when life can move too quickly, and challenges often seem to crowd out our peace, today invites us to slow down, look upward, and give thanks for the countless graces that surround us.

First and foremost, I offer my gratitude to God, the source of every good and perfect gift. It is His steady hand that guides us through seasons of uncertainty and His compassion that renews our strength when we feel weary. Thanksgiving is more than a holiday—it is a reminder that our blessings are not random. They come from a God who sees us, loves us, and sustains us. For the gift of life, the breath in our lungs, the warmth of family, the shelter above our heads, and the food on our tables, I give Him thanks. For hope in difficult times, for forgiveness that restores us, and for the promise of new mercies each morning, I praise Him.

I am also grateful for the privilege of living in America, a nation that—despite its imperfections—remains a beacon of opportunity, liberty, and resilience. We are blessed to live in a land where we can worship freely, speak openly, pursue our dreams, and shape our own futures. Millions around the world long for the freedoms we often take for granted. Today, I am reminded that freedom has never been free. It is the result of brave men and women who have sacrificed, served, and stood guard so that we may live in peace. To our veterans, active-duty service members, and their families, we owe a debt of gratitude that words can scarcely repay.

Thanksgiving is also a celebration of the American spirit—a spirit built on generosity, perseverance, and unity. From the earliest settlers who endured hardship with faith and determination, to generations of immigrants who came seeking a better life, to the communities who look after one another in times of need, America’s story is one of people who rise, who give, and who hope. Today, as we gather around our tables, let us remember that we are part of this same story—that our kindness, our service, and our gratitude continue to build the America we love.

As we celebrate with family and friends, may we not forget those who are alone, struggling, or hurting. May God use us to be instruments of comfort and compassion, extending His love to others just as generously as He has poured it into our lives. Let this Thanksgiving inspire us to serve more, love more, and appreciate more.

So today, with a grateful heart, I thank God for His blessings and thank America for the opportunities, freedoms, and community that shape our lives. May this Thanksgiving bring peace to our homes, unity to our nation, and renewed faith to our hearts. And may God continue to bless the United States of America—today and always.

Happy Thanksgiving.
Thanks be to God, and proud gratitude to our great country.
